3 July 2024 at 12:53 pm in reply to: Should (access to) cash be declared ‘an essential service’? #1836405Karl MarxParticipant
It’s an easy addition to current legislation in which notes and coins are legal tender. Add a clause to make it illegal for any business for goods or services not to accept legal tender.
This is easy to do and doesn’t require any new legislation and makes legal tender an option.
But we know this won’t happen as banks make to much money from card transactions and they will lobby governments against any act that may jeopardize the billions they make in transaction feesKarl MarxParticipantIt’s fair enough. What would happen if EV drivers started parking in front of fuel bowsers. All hell break loose.
I think not only the penalty here but also towing and storage fees as the police have the right to call towing companies have have vehicles removed.Karl MarxParticipantBMI is a very bad indicator to use as it only uses 3 factors. Sex, height and weight.
So it’s a very misleading indicator and every nutritionist I have read or spoken do says the same. Don’t use BMI.
To scientifically work out if one is overweight, obese, healthy etc. takes in a lot more factors and tests like weight, height, body fat %, body muscle %, Types of body fat especially Visceral fat, also known as toxic fat that can cause many health issues even on skinny people who have low BMI.Karl MarxParticipantMost if not all of these high salary people which includes politicians are way out of touch of the average battler. Joe Hockey ex LNP treasurer was a classic example whenever he brought down a budget or opened his mouth.
Karl MarxParticipantCash is king. If I get scammed $50 in cash I won’t loose my life savings. I don’t have to pay a surcharge at restaurants, stores, supermarkets etc. If businesses refuse cash then I insist any fees for using debit card are waved or 5% discount given. If this isn’t acceptable then I walk. The business has just lost custom and a sale.
I use cash for everything and the government can’t rack my whereabouts, or financial transactions etc. Stores, companies, banks, financial institutions etc can’t make extra money from selling my transaction history or bombard me with selected advertising etc.
My financial privacy is my business not anyone else.
Look what happened when the CBA went down last month and stranded 1.000’s of people with no way to pay for basics like morning coffee, bread, milk, fuel etc. Some were left stranded and service stations after filling their vehicles then found out they couldn’t pay. Very inconvenient for both customer and retailer.
Keep cash alive17 July 2023 at 12:36 pm in reply to: Cheesy burgers in Thailand don’t pass the Aussie taste test #1806376Karl MarxParticipantBurgers in Thailand from the major chains are pretty bland, same as the pizzas. Wouldn’t waste my baht on them. Thai food is much better, tastier and cheaper.
Karl MarxParticipantAgree Jacka. They know the inventory levels in most cases from the checkout. 15 in stock, checkout records 3 bought so stock reduced to 3. Look on any website like Big W, Kmart, Good Guys and you can check if a product is in stock and is not when the next shipment is due. Supermarkets tweak this for their stores etc. Even the cost of maintaining and monitoring this technology still needs human input when stock levels need adjustment. I can’t see any savings for the consumer being passed on. With these companies it’s all about the bottom line. Profit.
As far as surveillance goes, it’s everywhere, we just have to live with it.11 May 2023 at 12:28 pm in reply to: Should airlines be fined for delays and cancellations? #1800368Karl MarxParticipantI have only been scammed twice in my life. Flight Centre about 14 years ago and now Qantas last year.
Last year I read Qantas was holding over $2.5 billion in credits that the majority will be unable to use because of restrictions using credits which only benefit the airlines.
the Government needs to pass legislation making refunds the same as Europe or better and credits being a credit than can be used without restrictions.Karl MarxParticipantTypical vegan. Only aout themselves and pushing their lifestyle on to others. It’s there lifestyle choice same as the majority of others choice is not being a vegan. If they don’t like the smell etc then that’s just to bad. Don’t complain to your neighbours about their lifestyle habits. I bet your neighbour doesn’t complain about yours. So close your windows, stay inside. If it makes you ill take medication for it.
Karl MarxParticipantHe has appologised to his cabinet members but where’s the apology to the Australian people.
I always saw Morrison not as Scomo but as Scumo, now a more fitting tag don’t you think.
Karl MarxParticipantRuss Hinze wasn’t secretive about his portfolios. He also wasn’t premier of Qld either, old Joe was. Nothing hidden about Russ Hinze’s powers or portfolios whether you agreed or not.
I always saw Morrison not as Scomo but as Scumo, now a more fitting tag don’t you think.
Karl MarxParticipantJust remember, NO PARTY has your preference just because that party prefers A party over B party.
YOU and ONLY YOU have the say on what YOUR preferences are not any one party.
Unless of course your a blind sheep just following what some tell you.
Watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITWXUiK5nHQ&t=11s to see how preferences work and how you can send a message to the big parties that enough is enough.
This is how I’ve been voting for 50 years as I took the time to learn how preferences worked when I first started to vote. Many people didn’t have a clue 50 years ago and I’m still surprised how many now still don’t. Even many seniors don’t know how preferences work and still take a “how to vote card” into the booth with them.
So watch the video all the way through so you know how to vote in both lower & upper houses and use your preferences on how you want to use them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITWXUiK5nHQ&t=11s
Happy voting all
