Eligible households in South Australia have until 31 December to lodge their application for cost-of-living relief payments from the state government.
About a quarter SA households – approximately 215,000 – currently access concessions through the state government, in the form of support payments for energy, water, sewerage, medical heating and cooling, and the Emergency Services Levy.
In total, households can claim up to $1100 across the range of concessions and eligibility is based on your financial circumstances as of 1 July in a given financial year.
But they must apply for the payment before 31 December in order to get the payments, or forfeit them until next year.
SA minister for human services Nat Cook says many eligible recipients may not even be aware they are eligible.
“We know that many low or fixed-income households are doing it tough with the rising cost of living. This might be older South Australians, families, single parents or people with a disability,” she says.
“Our government has invested significantly in concessions to ensure those who need relief with the cost-of-living are able to access it.”
To apply, contact the Concessions SA hotline on 1800 307 758 or apply online at www.sa.gov.au/concessions.
