Comedy legend Tony Slattery from Whose Line Is It Anyway? passes away

The entertainment world is in mourning following the loss of Tony Slattery, a cherished British actor and comedian renowned for his quick wit and memorable performances on the improvisation show Whose Line Is It Anyway? He passed away at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and a profound impact on British comedy. 

The news of Slattery’s passing was confirmed in a heartfelt statement from his long-term partner, actor Mark Michael Hutchinson.

‘It is with great sadness we must announce actor and comedian Tony Slattery, aged 65, has passed away today, Tuesday morning, following a heart attack on Sunday evening’ the statement read.As tributes poured in, the comedy community remembered Slattery for his comedic genius and his kind and gentle nature.

Sir Stephen Fry, a longtime friend and colleague, took to social media to express his sorrow, describing Slattery as the ‘gentlest, sweetest soul’ and ‘screamingly funny and deeply talented.’

Fry’s message also extended love and condolences to Hutchinson, Slattery’s devoted partner, saying, ‘Love and condolences to Mark, his staunch, devoted life partner of almost 40 years.’

Slattery’s career was marked by his brilliant improvisational skills, which shone brightly during his tenure on Whose Line Is It Anyway? where he appeared for the show’s first seven seasons.
