What happens when you stop having sex?

Stopping sex, or even having an extended break, can have serious consequences for your health and wellbeing. Here are some of the things that can happen to your mind and body when you stop having sex.

More prone to illness

Various studies have shown that regular sex helps boost your immune system. It can also help your body fight off illness in other ways as well. One study showed that people who had sex twice a week had higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobin – a protein that plays an important role in the immune system.

Prostate cancer

Some studies show that frequency of sex can be linked to the likelihood of developing prostate cancer. In one large study of 30,000 men, those who said they ejaculated more than 21 times a month had lower chances of developing prostate cancer during their lifetime compared to those who ejaculated four to seven times a month.

Vaginal damage

Once you’ve gone through menopause, a lack of regular intercourse can cause your vagina to tighten and the tissues to get thinner and more likely to be injured, tear or even bleed during sex unless lubrication is used. The problem can spiral and the symptoms become so uncomfortable that many women may avoid sex, which can make the situation worse. Regular vaginal sex can stimulate blood flow, help keep vaginal muscles toned and maintain your vagina’s length and stretchiness.

Damage your relationship

Regular sex helps you feel emotionally close to your partner, which opens the door to better communication. Couples who have sex more often tend to say they’re happier than those who have sex less often.

Heart problems

Research says people who have sex once a month or less develop heart disease more often than those who have sex about twice a week. Part of the reason could be that you get a bit more exercise and are less likely to be anxious or depressed. But it could also be that if you have more sex, you’re physically and mentally healthier in the first place.

Memory loss

Some studies show that people who have regular sex are better at recalling memories. There are also studies that show sex can help your brain grow neurons and work better in general.

Ah, I knew that there must have been a root cause behind my recent heart and cancer operations!

LOL, I can no longer even spell ejackyulation or what ever it is called, and that is not because of my dementia.
