Madame Bovary is the sixth movie remake of Gustave Flaubert’s classic tale of Emma Bovary – a beautiful woman who, tired of her mundane village life, engages in extramarital affairs to advance her social standing.
The film stars Australia’s own Mia Wasikowska, who is making quite a name for herself as a fine actress. Wasikowska has starred in many popular films recently, including Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, period film Jane Eyre, and the comedy drama The Kids are Alright.
