Looking for essential summer shoes? You don’t need to be Imelda Marcos to get through summer looking and feeling good in your footwear.
You can actually get through with five pairs of shoes. A quick ‘capsule’ shoe list would be a pair of slim Havaianas with a crystal or urban slings, a pair of ballet flats, a pair of black or navy slip-on sneakers, and a staple ankle boot with a small heel. And if you want to dress up jeans – a classic pair of black kitten heels. That’s basically all you need.
Slide into summer with these shoe selections
This year, there are some fantastic summer sandals around. Anything from slides to ankle straps, to embellished or metallic, to Australian-made versions of Birkenstock slides from Breeze.
Check out the metallic slides from Wittner. They have a tiny heel and are available in either silver or black. If you prefer something with a heel, then this block heel may suit in black or even this lovely woven sandal in tan that has a mid heel. This well priced classic slide that comes in four colours.
If you prefer a sandal with a strap for more support, then we recommend this one from Betts.
A very handy, timeless shoe is a espadrille. Some companies refer to it as a slip-on plimsoll. They are comfortable for long walks, going to yoga and for everyday shopping. Look for a pair with a white rubber sole. They look great, are safe in the wet (like when cruising) and easy to keep clean.
You might prefer a bit more colour. These patterned plimsolls are great. Or, if you are looking for a classic black pair for a great price, these could work for you. Like a white/cream sole? Check out this pair from Betts with a perforated upper side, which are quite attractive.
On the Asos website you’ll found a good variety of ballet flats. A few you might wish to take a look at include this really cute peeptoe pair in the palest of pinks, these black beauties, or even this fab pair of leopard ballet flats. You might also like these classic grey flats.
The options are endless this season, so take your time to do your research before you buy. It helps to decide whether you want investment shoes that may last for years on end or more affordable shoes that may be useful for several seasons.
