Kmart’s $9 gadget sparks laughter and curiosity

Kmart has always been a treasure trove for bargain hunters, but every now and then, an item pops up that does more than just save dollars—it sparks conversations, raises eyebrows, and sends the internet into a bit of a tizzy. The latest to do just that is a $9 Vibration Massager that’s causing quite a stir among shoppers for its, let’s say, ‘unique’ appearance and ambiguous description.

The product in question, which Kmart markets as a tool for massaging shoulders, neck, and back, has been turning heads and eliciting chuckles across social media platforms. A curious shopper’s post on a Facebook Kmart group ignited the discussion with a candid inquiry: ‘Hey mummas, just wondering if anyone has used this? Are the vibrations hard? It says it’s for personal use…but how personal?’ Accompanied by a string of laughing emojis, the post was a nudge-nudge, wink-wink to the product’s design, which some might say resembles a device more commonly found in an adult store than a family-friendly retailer.

The comments section quickly filled with jests and jibes. One user quipped, ‘As personal as you want,’ while another humorously predicted the advent of an ‘adults-only section in Kmart.’ Others shared their less-than-satisfactory experiences, with one humorously advising, ‘0/10 do not recommend. You’d be better off sitting on a washing machine tbh.’ Another joked about the potential for an embarrassing trip to the Emergency Department.

Despite the banter, there was genuine curiosity about the effectiveness of the massager. One person admitted to being ‘scared’ by its size when they saw it in-store, while the only online review available gave it a lukewarm three stars, lamenting its ‘very weak vibrations’ and overall disappointment in its performance as a back massager.

On social media, the conversation continued, with users sharing videos of the massager and speculating on its alternative uses. ‘Hmm, OK, interesting… what else does it look like?’ one user mused, while others commented on the bargain price, with one saying, ‘$9 seems pretty reasonable.’ The buzz around the product led some to joke that it’s ‘going to sell out now,’ with others expressing surprise that it hadn’t already.

Amidst the laughter and double entendres, there were those who vouched for the product’s intended use. ‘My dad got one of these last year and I would actually recommend, it’s actually a pretty good massager,’ a commenter defended.
