Puffer jackets.
Don’t just think of a quilted jacket with active wear.
Or when you are going to the country. Or on weekends with sneakers.
Think about it differently.
I love wearing a puffer with a chic skirt.
With heels. With leather pants. With high boots.
I’ve been obsessed with the idea since I first spied the Balenciaga show way back in 2017.
The whole show is what you want to wear right now.
That would be knee-high boots. Long A-line skirts. Pointy kitten heels. Slouchy sweaters.
All with a joshed-up puffer jacket.
It’s kind of sporty luxe updated. Modern, sophisticated but chill too.
And here’s the thing – fashion moves slowly. That was five years ago!
I immediately went out and bought a huge puffer and pointy boots.
I’ve worn them to death. I can still wear them now.
Styling tips:
Try lots of different shaped puffers: short, long, vest or sleeveless, or oversized quilted.
If you go to a crop short puffer, wear a long sweater under it and let the sweater hang down.
If you have a sleeveless vest, then there is nothing like pleather leggings under there.
A narrow silhouette is great to counterbalance the oversized jacket.
Try to avoid black.
Go for a neutral, chocolate, khaki (sleeveless), (lots here on Pinterest) cream or light grey.
Layer the puffer jacket over the same colour or sweater that tones it. So cream with cream knit, camel with a camel sweater, khaki with khaki knit.
If you do go for black, go for shiny texture.
Or if you want to joosh up your old black puffer jacket, just surround it with brown, denim or cream (or navy).
Toss on cream shoes to lighten the look (sneakers, heels, loafers or combat boots).
