In a breakthrough finding, simple cholesterol drugs could prove the key to reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
An analysis of 400,000 Americans who took statins to lower cholesterol over a two-year period found that the higher their use, the less likely they were to develop Alzheimer’s over the next five years.
The study looked at people over 65 for a period of seven years and found that women has a 15 per cent lower incidence of the disease while for men, it was 12 per cent lower.
