Rebel rocker plays with passion

Rebel rocker Deborah Conway has made her name singing songs that chronicle the essential elements of life, love, loss, memory, the mundane and the spiritual.

“A rare female agitator in a time when the music industry was male dominated; Conway continues to be a role model for young women and a mentor to emerging artists,” says a statement on her website bio.

For 30 years now, her powerful voice and presence has fascinated audiences, ever since her band Do Re Mi released the iconic top five hit Man Overboard in 1985 – a song considered radically different from anything else on the airwaves at the time.

While Deborah has always followed her own path (even with a band), she’s performed solo since 1991 when her first solo album produced her hit single It’s Only the Beginning and an Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Music Award for Best Female Artist.

Apart from being a phenomenal songstress, she’s added model and actress to her impressive resume, and organised and performed on the Broad Festival project from 2005 to 2008 – showcasing contemporary Australian female artists.

Today, the incredible Deborah Conway and her playing (and life) partner Willy Zygier play three of her brilliant songs for you with the pure passion for which they are known.
