Do you remember The Monkees? Well, those fun-lovin’ psychedelic pop stars have reformed (again) and, later this year, will embark on a 50th anniversary tour of Australia and New Zealand.
The ‘Prefab Four’, as they were known after being put together for a television series in 1965, will begin a 10-date tour of ‘down under’ minus front man Davy Jones, who passed away in 2012 and guitarist Mike Nesmith, who is still with the band but no longer tours.
So, The Monkees are down to two original members – Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork – and they’ll be playing a bunch of Monkees’ classics as well as new tracks from their new album Good Times!, which was released in May this year.
The Monkees may have had an unconventional beginning but in 1967, the band outsold The Beatles and Rolling Stones combined, making them one of the most successful pop music acts of the 60s.
