If you live in Tasmania and are having problems meeting your mortgage payments, you’re certainly not alone, with the state the worst performing on the scale of mortgage arrears.
While mortgage arrears are at an unusually low rate of two per cent, due largely to low interest rates, some post codes are bucking the trend with high levels of arrears.
Budgewoi on the NSW Central Coast has the highest level of arrears by post code, at 3.2 per cent over 30 days in arrears, Kingston in Queensland is second on the list at with three per cent and the highest Victorian post code is Corio, in fourth position with 2.7 per cent.
