The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has just wrapped up so we’ve summarised the best new gadgets on their way to the market. Keep an eye out in 2016 for these innovative devices, and if you’re a frequent traveller, you might want to check out these new travel gadgets.
Sensorwake
Is there anything better than waking up to the smell of coffee?
If you don’t find waking up to a loud beeping noise to be a particularly pleasant way to start the day, this new alarm clock might be what you’ve been waiting for.
Sensorwake uses scents, rather than sounds, to wake you up in the morning. Simply pop a ‘scent pod’ in the machine (choosing from croissant, espresso, seaside, lush jungle, chocolate or peppermint) and for 30 days you will be woken up by a delightful odour.
The scent-powered alarm clock boasts a 99 per cent success rate for waking up people, and those who suffer from blocked noses will be treated to the traditional abrasive alarm beep.
Smart Ski Airbag Vest
If you’re not quite as confident out on the slopes as you used to be, this protective vest has sensors that will detect when you lose your balance whilst skiing. If you start to fall, airbags within the vest inflate in less than 100 milliseconds, protecting your hips, back and your vital organs from the impact.
A great idea for sure, but at over AU$1500, you might want to wait until the prices drop.
The Samsung Family Hub fridge
How many times have you tried to remember whether or not you were out of an ingredient whilst you were out shopping? This new smart fridge from Samsung has cameras on the inside that can snap a photo of what you’ve got in stock and send it to your smartphone while you’re in the supermarket.
The fridge also has a large touchscreen on the front that Samsung plans to incorporate voice technology into in the near future.
Prizm
A pyramid shaped device that can tell who is in the room (provided they have a smartphone in their pocket) and play music it thinks they will like, based off of their listening history on music streaming websites.
If more than one person is in the room it’ll try to play something that everyone will enjoy and it will adjust the type of music based on the time of the day and amount of people present.
Polaroid Snap+
Polaroid’s nifty new digital camera functions much like the old instant cameras they used to make, with the handy addition of a small LCD screen and storage that will allow you to save digital copies of your photos if you lose the physical printout.
