Google has just released a must download extension for its internet browser Google Chrome.
Password Checkup is an extension that activates when you open and operate Google Chrome. When you visit a website, such as Hotmail, and enter your username and password, the extension runs those details past a database of 4 billion user name and password combinations that have been compromised through known data breaches.
If the extension detects an insecure password, you are prompted with a big red dialogue box that prompts you to update your information immediately. The extension isn’t there to tell you to increase the security of your passwords, it’s simply there to help keep you safe and secure.
If you are worried about the safety of your own information when using this tool, you can read about all the security procedures in-place on Google’s blog post about the new extension.
So what are you waiting for? Install Password Checkup now. I just did.
