COMO Hotels and Resorts has unveiled COMO Laucala Island, a brand new private island escape in the Fijian archipelago.
“Como Laucala Island offers unspoiled wilderness surrounded by turquoise-blue sea and white sandy beaches,” said a spokesperson for COMO.
“At the heart of the island are tropical rainforests, volcanic mountains, blue lagoons, mangroves and coconut groves waiting to be explored.
“COMO Laucala Island offers the perfect island escape in a carefully protected ecosystem.”
This is a resort where space is luxury: 25 residences, each with their own COMO butler, spread out on private beaches, above lagoons, atop hills and mountains. With its private airstrip, accessed by a 45-minute private air charter from the country’s Nadi International Airport, this sanctuary will provide unparalleled levels of luxury living in 25 standalone residences located on the northern shore of the island.

The carefully designed spaces are at one with nature and surprise with individual features and views across the Pacific. With private spaces between 3000 and 4000 sqm, all residences feature private pools. The construction has been carefully considered using local materials where possible. The residences are built with natural Fijian wood in a South Pacific style, and blend seamlessly with COMO’s contemporary flair.

Every imaginable activity is part of the COMO Laucala Island experience. A first for COMO, the island features a tropical 18-hole David McLay Kidd designed golf-course, a wide range of land and water activities, a fleet of jet skis, sailing and game fishing boats as well as jet boats and diving boats. The resort also offers horse riding, mountain biking, nature hikes and tennis.
COMO Shambhala Retreat, the island’s wellness centre, is the embodiment of COMO’s philosophy for holistic, healthy living. At this nurturing retreat, guests can expect physical fitness classes, yoga, and a fitness centre. Treatments make use of COMO Shambhala’s signature products, as well as the island’s herbs, spices, flowers, and fruits. COMO Shambhala’s signature Asian-inspired massages and body treatments using the island’s river stones, mineral crystals and rich volcanic soils are also provided.

To minimise its impact on the environment and in line with COMO’s farm-to-table philosophy, the island’s five dining options receive fresh produce from the resort’s 240-acre farm, cultivating a wide range of organic crops and livestock including chickens, quail and wagyu cattle. Fresh seafood supplies are sourced exclusively from local fishermen, contributing to the island’s commitment to sustainability. Menus include COMO Shambhala options, which are high in flavour, nutrition, and low in fats and refined sugars.
