Brisbane City Council’s Botanica: Contemporary Art Outside will light up Brisbane’s City Botanic Gardens from 20 to 29 May 2022. The contemporary event celebrates Australia’s leading contemporary artists and designers.
Lord mayor Adrian Schrinner said Botanica has become one of the city’s most popular outdoor exhibitions, captivating more than 70,000 visitors last year.

“Botanica continues to build on its popularity in 2022 with an impressive line-up of nine artworks in the program including state-of-the-art projections, unexpected installations and interactive pieces created by leading artists such as Leila Honari, Julie Monro-Allison and Tim Gruchy,” Cr Schrinner said.
“We are delighted to bring this exhibition to life in the beautiful surrounds of our City Botanic Gardens, offering a multi-sensory experience suitable for the whole family.
“The event is free to the public and includes guided twilight walks, the popular children’s discovery trail, live artwork creation where you can contribute to an exhibit, interactive workshops and talks. As well as food trucks and an outdoor bar on Friday to Sunday evenings,” Cr Schrinner said.
Botanica executive producer Bella Ford said the exhibition was a wonderful fusion of contemporary art and nature thanks to its unique setting.
“Botanica initiates a sense of discovery and wonder, and invites the community to be part of a conversation about our evolving city,” Ms Ford said.
