Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines recently broke the record as the largest and longest ever cruise ship to sail down the super tight Corinth Canal in Greece.
The canal separating the Greek mainland from the Peloponnese is notoriously narrow at just 24m wide at its narrowest point. The ship making the record breaking voyage, Braemar, is 195.82m long and 22.52m wide.
Passengers could almost touch the sides of the rocky cliffs of the canal at points of the journey, says Travel Weekly.
“This is such an exciting sailing and tremendous milestone in Fred. Olsen’s 171-year history, and we are thrilled to have been able to share it with our guests,” said Clare Ward, director of product and customer service for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.
