Air Canada is working hard to make baby boomer travellers happy. How? With a new non-stop Brisbane-Vancouver flight, 24 Premium Economy seats and double luggage allowances – that’s how.
Planning to visit Canada this year or next? There’s nothing like flying with the national carrier, we say, so YourLifeChoices contacted David Carroll at Air Canada to get the latest intel on what this premium North American airline has to offer baby boomer guests. These are the top five features we have chosen to highlight to assist with your Canadian air travel plans.
New Brisbane-Vancouver route
From June 2016 Air Canada will launch non-stop daily flights between Brisbane and Vancouver. Using the state-of-the-art B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, this service offers passengers 20 international Business Class lie-flat seat suites, 21 Premium Economy and 210 Economy Class seats (offering the same features as those described above).
Premium economy
We all love to get a little closer to the pointy end, so Premium Economy offers a super affordable way to enjoy a pampered flight without the heavy hit of business class fares. So from 11 May 2016, Air Canada will add a new Premium Economy class product on its daily B777-200 non-stop flights between Sydney and Vancouver. Premium Economy offers passengers greater legroom and recline, and wider seats equipped with a 9- or 11-inch enhanced definition intuitive touch personal entertainment screen as well as premium meals, complimentary bar service, priority check-in and baggage delivery at the airport.
Revamped economy
Not every traveller’s budget will stretch to premium, so it’s good to know that the new- look B777-200 aircraft will also offer a re-designed Economy cabin, offering an upgraded in-flight entertainment system available free at every seat.
Double checked baggage
Yes, you read right. Air Canada is now offering double the checked baggage allowance for Economy Class passengers travelling on its daily, non-stop B777 service between Sydney and Vancouver. Now all Economy Class passengers flying between Australia and Canada can check in TWO items of baggage, with each piece weighing up to 23kg. The increased checked baggage allowance applies to passengers travelling to/from Australia and any of Air Canada’s destinations across Canada and the United States.
Connectivity
Air Canada’s Sydney and Brisbane flights are timed to optimise connectivity to and from Air Canada’s extensive Canadian and North American network, which can take you to more than 60 Canadian cities and over 50 destinations across the US. Australian travellers are taking advantage of this to experience ‘two-nation vacations’ by combining Canada and the US and make the most of the airfares. Vancouver Airport is becoming increasingly popular with Australian travellers as it offers a faster, efficient and more user-friendly way for passengers to clear US customs (compared to traditional gateways such as Los Angeles Airport).
