Experience the Silk Road’s whitewashed monasteries, breathtaking snow-capped peaks, desert oasis towns and picturesque palaces during a luxury rail holiday from Tibet to Beijing.
This exclusive two-week journey can only be booked with Holiday XP and includes business class flights, deluxe hotel accommodation, sightseeing tours and several nights on-board the Shangri-la Express, all for $9959 per person. The trip would cost up to almost twice the price if you packaged this together yourself.
Alternatively, you can fly economy class from Australia for a total package price of $5999.
You will land in Lhasa in style. Wander the ancient Tibetan town, home to the aweinspiring red and white Potala Palace overlooking the backstreet temples and the whitewashed Tibetan quarter.
Discover the famous Tashi Lhunpo Monastery where you will see the largest statue of Jampa (future Buddha) in the world. Next, you will board a train on the world’s highest railway and pass snowcapped mountains, the source of the Yangtze River, Fenghuo Mountain Tunnel and Qiangtang Grassland. Climb aboard the ‘China Orient Express’ to Beijing and watch the countryside pass by as you leave Tibet and enter mainland China. Head straight to The Great Wall of China, built by the Ming Dynasty.
The Silk Road was once an ancient network of trade routes between China and the Mediterranean. Travel along the famous route to Dunhuang, home to Crescent Lake and the Singing Sand Mountains. Marvel at the towering golden sand dunes surrounding the Gobi Desert township and shop at the night market for local crafts. Before leaving you will visit the historical Magao Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The deal is only available for travel on one tour date, 9 June 2018.
