Ronan Keating to visit Tropical North Queensland

Irish singer and presenter Ronan Keating will be in Port Douglas holidaying with his family before playing in the Survivor Golf Grand Finale at the Mirage Country Club on 4 December 2022.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) will host the Keating family to help promote the destination internationally, especially to his strong fan base in the United Kingdom and Ireland, a key international market which attracted 72,000 visitors a year to the region before the pandemic.

TTNQ CEO Mark Olsen said Ronan Keating, his wife Storm, and their two young children Cooper and Coco would experience the Great Barrier Reef, the world’s oldest rainforest and local Indigenous culture during their visit.

“Ronan hosts a popular breakfast show on Magic Radio and British television chat show, The One Show, and has an extensive social media following,” he said.

“He and Storm will post daily stories about their Tropical North Queensland experiences on their social accounts, which together reach 1.3 million people.

“Included among their activities will be a stay at a luxury Executive Retreats home in the Port Douglas hinterland, exploring the Great Barrier Reef on an exclusive charter with sailing catamaran Indigo and discovering Kuku Yalanji country with Walkabout Cultural Adventures.”

Survivor Golf CEO David Cameron said Ronan had come on board as the Survivor Golf Ambassador after playing a round of golf with his Australian father-in-law Gordon Uechtritz in March this year.

“Ronan enjoys golf and is passionate about charity work so was delighted that Survivor Golf supported the Kick On Charity to fund mental health wellbeing projects,” he said.

In his video supporting Survivor Golf, Mr Keating said the two-person Ambrose golf tournament was the fastest growing golf tournament in Australia.

“It’s so special because it’s all about men talking about their mental health and having a great time on the golf course too,” Mr Keating said.

Mr Cameron said qualifying golf games were held across the country throughout the year with the winning team from each of the 22 events earning a place in the grand final at Mirage Country Club, Port Douglas.

“The 60 finalists get airline tickets to Cairns and accommodation at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas for the three-day event in December,” he said.

“One lucky team will play golf with Ronan and his father-in-law with the proceeds from the raffle going to Kick On Charity.

“Ronan will perform and talk about his adventures in Tropical North Queensland at the gala dinner before playing in the final on Sunday and presenting the winners with their trophy.”
