Ryan Reynolds stars in new airline video

If anything goes awry on your next British Airways flight, Ryan Reynolds wants you to know that at least there will be Aviation Gin available.

The video, which was posted to Mr Reynolds’ own YouTube channel, is titled Rejected airline safety video and celebrates a new partnership between his gin company, Aviation Gin, and British Airways.

In the video, passengers are reminded to remain seated with their seatbelt fastened as, Mr Reynolds joked, “spilling even one drop of the world’s highest-rated gin will result in you being duct-taped to your seat for the remainder of the flight”.

It’s technically not a real airline safety video, more an ad for a botanical gin blend that will now be offered on all long-haul flights. Passengers aboard shorter flights will be able to purchase the gin onboard for $10.50 (£6).

“Through this partnership, we’re keen to enhance each traveller’s experience with a deliciously refreshing Aviation Gin cocktail for flyers to enjoy on journeys near and far, offering an American twist on this quintessentially British drink,” Gareth Williams, international brand director at Aviation American Gin, said in a statement shared with Travel and Leisure.

Another part of the collab includes the Aviation Gin Bar, which opened in the Club Lounge at JFK airport in October 2021. British Airways has also announced a new route from London Heathrow to Portland, Oregon. The direct flight will run five times a week from 3 June 2022.

Aviation American Gin was founded in Portland in 2006 and is still distilled there, in small batches, to this day.

This isn’t the first time Aviation American Gin has taken flight across the pond. The gin is also available aboard Virgin Atlantic flights (and Virgin Voyages cruise ships).
