Umbrellas, handy to carry around in case of an unexpected downpour, i.e. at all times in many Australian cities, they’re all pretty much the same right? Wrong.
The humble umbrella has had a major makeover and, given the crucial role it plays in most people’s lives, not a moment too soon. Meet HAZ – the world’s first motorised smart umbrella.
As with most brilliant ideas nowadays, the Haz Umbrella is becoming a reality thanks to crowd funding site Indiegogo. Having already reached its required target for development, the HAZ is no doubt the future of umbrellas.
So what does it actually do? Well for starters, with the push of a single button it will automatically open, close and retract thanks to an integrated precision motor and Li-ion battery. Great news for anyone who’s ever battled with opening or closing their umbrella (i.e. everyone).
The HAZ Umbrella also connects to your smartphone via built in Bluetooth technology, allowing the phone to send you location reminders if the umbrella is ever misplaced. So essentially you’ll never lose your umbrella again. Considering umbrellas have to be up there with keys as one of the easiest things to lose, this is a much needed development.
Finally, the app will alert you to the weather and, in particular, when you need to carry your umbrella. Talk about handy!
RRP: Prices from $69 plus shipping from HAZ Umbrella
