Two Australian nudist beaches named amongst the world’s best

For people who like to let their bits hang free, you will be pleased to know two Australian beaches have made it into the world’s best top-10 nudist beaches.

While Plakias Beach, in Crete, was judged the world’s best, Maslins Beach in Adelaide and Cobblers Beach in Sydney came in at seventh and eighth spots respectively.

The US was the only other country with two in the top-10 with Haulover Beach in Miami in the third spot and Blacks Beach in San Diego in the sixth spot.

Experts at Emisil.com conducted research to identify the best nude beaches of 2024. The study is based on metrics such as safety scores, average sunshine hours, summer water temperatures, and environmental quality standards, retrieved from the data available in  Numbeo, Weather.com, the official Blue Flag website, and Google. These metrics were combined into a composite score to determine the top nude beaches of 2024.

Where to go

The top-10 are:

  • Plakias beach, Greece
  • Zlatni Rat, Croatia
  • Haulover beach, Miami
  • Praia do Meco, Portugal
  • Es Trenc, Spain
  • Blacks beach, San Diego,
  • Maslin Beach, Adelaide
  • Cobblers beach, Sydney
  • Wreck beach, Canada
  • Belle Mare beach, Mauritius

“Clothing-optional beaches with high safety are particularly popular among naturists,” a Emisil spokesperson said.

“Factors such as lifeguards, clean water, and low crime rates make a beach appealing for those seeking a clothing-optional experience.

“It’s not surprising that we see a correlation between a high safety index and the highest Google search count for Plakias Beach in Crete, which receives over 50 million searches annually. This clearly shows that naturists are actively seeking out safe and clean environments to experience nature nude.

Maslin beach was Australia’s first nudist beach, declaring itself clothing optional in 1975. It’s also known for whale watching, but with a bunch of rudy nudies around, that’s probably not its main appeal.

Best bum

And don’t forget the Maslin games held late January. Events include the three-legged race – doesn’t that conjure some images – ‘best bum’ judging and the sack race. Goodness me.

The games were once called the Nude Olympics, but the official Olympics caught wind of it, called the lawyers in and it had to be renamed. Thieves of joy.

Cobblers beach is part of Sydney Harbour National Park, so you can be nude just a short drive from work if you so please.

But be aware, its proximity to the urban sprawl means it has a reputation for plenty of pervs in the surrounding bush.

On hot days, a launch services the area with drinks and snacks. That might be the most highly sought-after job in Sydney.

Yachts anchor offshore, but are also generally nudists, because why not?
