Fourth of July in Australia!

It’s the Fourth of July! We’re a long way from the USA, but happy Independence Day to any visiting and expat Americans in Australia.

Can we find any USA-themed specials to help you celebrate? I’m not sure, but we’ll do our best.

McDonald’s

The Golden Arches have been a feature of the Aussie landscape for more than 50 years, but McDonald’s is an American institution. It’s also a good place to get some delicious bargains – in a couple of ways.

First, there’s McDonald’s famous Loose Change® menu. This menu pops up periodically andis currently in full swing. For the adults there’s a hamburger for just $2 or the Chicken Snap Wrap for just $3.50.

For the kids, the iconic Happy Meal® is just $5.75, and these days it comes with healthy alternatives in all three parts of the meal – main, sides and drinks. One thing hasn’t changed, though – the Happy Meal® comes with a toy, and the current range features characters from the US movie Despicable Me 4

You might not save millions, but with Happy Meals® currently, you can collect and save Minions!

Another way to save at McDonald’s is by downloading the MyMacca’s® app. It features app-only specials and allows you to collect rewards points so you can save even more. The MyMacca’s® app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Levi’s at Myer

What could be more American than a pair of Levi jeans? The iconic denim blue jeans were first manufactured by Levi Strauss more than 170 years ago, and they are still going strong. And while you can get virtually the same blue jeans design as you could back in 1853, other designs are now available.

Levi’s have always been known for quality, so any time you can find them on sale is a good time. Currently, there’s a good time to be had at Myer, where a number of styles and colours are marked down.

The 511 Slim Fit design has been reduced from $109.95 to just $65.97. That’s 40 per cent off. Colours available include black, Dark Stonewash and Ama Rinsey. Levi’s 516 Slim Fit Straight design has been similarly reduced by 40 per cent. These are available in black, dark and Stonewash, also at $65.97.

The Levi’s specials don’t stop there, though. Other designs have also been reduced, along with T-shirts, shorts and jackets. Check out the full range of Myer Levi’s specials here.

Gibson guitars at Guitar World

In many parts of the US, the weather on the Fourth of July is likely to be warm, if not hot to very hot. For most Australians, though, the opposite is true. That makes it a perfect time for staying indoors and finally getting around to that promise you made yourself. What promise? You know the one – learn a musical instrument!

Okay, perhaps not all of you have made that promise, but for those (like me) who have, the guitar is a great place to start. And you will, of course, need a guitar. And there’s surely no better guitar than a Gibson.

These American icons have been around since the company’s inception in the Kalamazoo, Michigan, workshop of Orville Gibson. Young Orville made that move way back in 1894 and Gibson guitars are still seen as the gold standard today.

Gibson’s reputation is known the world over, with Australia being no exception. And through the Aussie outlet Guitar World, you too can get one of these acclaimed guitars – without leaving home!

Good deals on Gibsons

Being the best of the best, Gibson guitars don’t come cheap, but Guitar World has several models on sale. Among those are the Gibson ES-339 Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar – Cherry. This guitar is loved by players who need semi-hollow tone but don’t want a guitar with too much bulk. Guitar World has one of these beautiful babies marked down from $6899 to $5788.

Or you might prefer the Gibson Acoustic G-200 EC Acoustic-electric Guitar – Natural, reduced from $4499 to just $3499. For something a bit cheaper, check out the Gibson Acoustic G-45 Acoustic Guitar – Natural – Player Port. That’s been knocked down from $2999 to $2299.

Check out Guitar World’s full range of Gibson guitars – including their specials – here.

Whether you’re after a burger, a pair of Levi’s or a classic Gibson guitar, enjoy your Fourth of July and have a great week!
